Spring in the Cotswolds : Our top 5

Spring is finally here, and with temperatures rising and bluebells emerging the Cotswolds is one of the best places to get outside and enjoy the changing season. We’ve compiled a list of five of our favourite Springtime activities for you to explore whilst the shops are still closed.

Bluebells at Dover’s Hill

With views overlooking the Vale of Evesham, Dover’s Hill has gained a reputation as the ‘natural amphitheatre of the Cotswolds’. In Spring it’s well worth a visit to see the picture perfect Bluebells in the woods at the foot of the hill. It’s a location loved by ramblers, runners, dog walkers and families, with views that are breathtaking whatever the weather.

Broadway Tower

Broadway Tower is a family-owned destination set within a 50-acre estate of parkland. Overlooking a medieval trading route, the Tower has had many uses over the years including a printing press, retreat for artists, and an observation point during the Cold War. These days it lends itself to some of the most magical walks, with paths leading from the Cotswold National trail right up to the tower. With panoramic views for 62 miles across the Severn Valley, it’s a trip that’s not going to disappoint!

The Blossom Trail

This 64km route through the Vale of Evesham is an absolute must for visiting the Cotswolds at any time of the year. However in Spring when the days start getting longer and the sheep start lambing,  the cherry and apple trees flood the rich farmlands with pretty pink and white blossom. On the route you’ll pass wonderful roadside stalls, local farm shops and pick-your-own fields, providing plenty of interest as you walk.

Batsford Arboretum

Batsford is home to one of the country’s largest private tree collections with 56 acres of wild gardens, paths, streams and stunning views. Being just a mile from our historic market town of Moreton-in-Marsh, it’s the perfect place to spend the day enjoying the beautiful surroundings. In Spring the arboretum enjoys impressive displays of flowering bulbs and spectacular Japanese flowering cherries.

Martha’s Coffee House

Martha's Coffee House is a charming family-run cafe situated right in the heart of Moreton in Marsh. It is the perfect place to stop for refreshments whilst exploring the Springtime countryside. Freshly made food, coffee and scones are served by friendly staff, making it a worthwhile and memorable stop-off during your visit.

In our view there is no better place than the Cotswolds to enjoy Spring’s cheerful offerings. We hope that you find our roundup useful. Our knowledgeable team at Luxury Cotswold Retreats are always happy to help with suggestions for your stay.
